Autoresponders are a handy tool for your online marketing. An autoresponder is a program that automatically sends out prewritten messages at the pre-selected times. These messages are sent out to anyone who responds to an autoresponder message or feedback form or subscription form.

They can be used for ecourses, tutorials, articles, (with follow-ups) newsletters, mailing lists, free reports, information and much more. Autoresponders can help you automate your online business. One word of caution – do not lose the personal touch. Autoresponders are very helpful, but people sometimes need to hear from an actual person – not a computer program!

If you have an email address on your site where people can email for more information; try spicing it up with an autoresponder. This would be general information about your products and/or services. You can then add several follow-ups to the existing sales letter and they will all be delivered automatically! This frees up your time to get more work done and it also gets the visitor the information immediately!

You might want to set it up something like this:

A person responds to an email on your site for more information on your products/services. Your first autoresponder message goes out immediately thanking them for their interest and giving them all the basic info on your items. Personalize the message with their name, if possible.

A couple of days later message #2 goes out telling about your experience and credentials. Then message #3 a few days later could be a free report with information pertaining to your products. If you sell home décor offer some decorating tips with your products being the subject. After that comes message #4 with testimonials and feedback from your customers. Message #5 could be one final grab for the sale and also let them know about your ezine, if you have one or other free resources/services you provide.

By the fourth or fifth contact, most people will become your customer. I have also used autoresponders for my ecourses and my articles. I put each article on a separate autoresponder account with several follow-ups and then I have a master list of all my articles as well. I promote the address of my master list and people can access my articles anytime without having to wait for me to send them.

An autoresponder works great for an ecourse or tutorial as well. Put each lesson separately and have them sent out every day or every couple of days.

Don’t wait too long in between or people will forget about it. At the end of the ecourse, you can add a couple follow-ups or maybe a survey on how they like the ecourse – use your imagination. The possibilities are endless with autoresponders!
